C U AC-: 0 Recommendation: 8 0 H H H O H H •• •• 2 4 w -ri a HcnwcnEl cnna--I By Minute Motion, approve the request from Soroptimist International of P.4 :.1,.. s�( Irx O sponsorship of the 11 th Annual Art and Wine Tour of El Paseo and appropriate + • ro e unobligated general fund in an amount not to exceed $1,400 for expenses associated with implementation of said event. Backaround: Soroptimist International of Palm Desert, the El Paseo Business Association, and local galleries and restaurants are joining once again to host the Annual Art & Wine Tour of El Paseo on Friday, February 16, 2007. Each year this event is organized to raise funds to provide scholarships and benefit several desert charities. Participants will enjoy an evening of wine tasting and food sampling while browsing the fine art galleries along El Paseo. The tour of the galleries is completely self -directed, so participants can begin at any gallery and enjoy the event at their own pace. The City of Palm Desert has sponsored this event in the past and is once again being requested to participate by funding the operation of the Courtesy Carts and rental of klieg lights during the event. Klieg light rental is not to exceed $1,000.00 and the Courtesy Cart expenses will run approximately $400.00 for the evening.
