Approve Change Order No. 1 to Contract No. C25270 for the construction of the Traffic Signal at Highway 74 and Shadow Mountain Drive with Granite Construction Company in the amount of $17,180.89. 2. Move $17,180.89 from contingency to base. 3. Authorize the Mayor to execute the same. Discussion: On June 22, 2006, the City Council awarded the construction contract for the Traffic Signal Installation at Hwy 74 and Shadow Mountain Drive to Granite Construction Company in the amount of $613,613.00. During construction it was discovered that the Southern California Edison (SCE) vault necessary for connection to the traffic signal was fifteen feet lower than the three feet indicated on SCE maps. This change in the elevation made it necessary for the contractor to hire an SCE -approved sub -contractor to trench to the vault from the traffic signal location. Therefore, staff recommends that City Council approve Change Order No. 1 to Contract No. C25270 for the construction of the Traffic Signal at Highway 74 and Shadow Mountain Drive with Granite Construction Company in the amount of $17,180.89, move $17,180.89 from contingency to base, and authorize the mayor to execute the same. Contract C25270 Change Order No. 1 Continued from front This Change Order covers changes to the subject contract as described herein. The Contractor sha�l construct, furnish equipment and materials, and perform all work as necessary or required to complete the Change Order items for a lump sum price agreed upon between the Contractor and the City of Palm Desert, otherwise referred to as Owner. Contract Time Extension 0 Days. Revised Contract Total 90 Days. The undersigned Contractor approves the foregoing Change Order # 1 as to the changes, if any, in the contract price specified for each item including any and all supervision costs and other miscellaneous costs relating to the change in work, and as to the extension of time allowed, if any, for completion of the entire work on account of said Change Order # 1.
