Streamline the Use of Original Equipment Manufacturer Services By:
1. Approving Original Equipment Manufacturer Vendor List; and
2. Granting Exception to Bidding Requirements, as Provided for by
Section 3.32.090 of the Municipal Code, for Fiscal Year 2007-08

Recommendation:
By minute motion, approve and authorized staff to utilize the original equipment
manufacturer services on the list appended to this report.
Discussion:
The Public Works Traffic Signal Maintenance Division utilizes a variety of original equipment
manufacturer vendors for equipment, repair, maintenance, and/or parts that are not available
from aftermarket sources. The attached original equipment manufacturer vendor list gives a
brief description of the local and only providers of services and parts for traffic signal equipment,
communication equipment, bucket truck, and vehicle data collection equipment.
Each year, staff posts the vendor list and an invitation to be added to it. Subsequent to this
posting, staff compiles a list of vendors and service providers capable of offering immediate
accessibility, unique supplies, discounted pricing, or any combination of these factors.
Purchases and/or services valued at more that $25,000 will follow the standard procedure for
procurement. Staff therefore requests that City Council approve these vendors for the 2007-08
fiscal year.
