Authorize the City Manager to award Contract No. C26200 to Best Quality Painting, Indian Wells, California, in the amount of $28,000.00 for supplies and labor to prime and paint the exterior of the Palm Desert Civic Center. 2. Authorize the Finance Director to set aside up to $10,000 for Special Services to be used for the known/unknown repairs to the building's surface. Discussion: In the summer of 2006, City Staff observed that the Palm Desert Civic Center had not been painted in its entirety since it was built. It has only been painted in different sections at different times. Currently there are a variety of shades of faded colors and oxidation damage that is apparent. Repairs are also necessary due to stucco, joint, and crack damage. After Staff informed the ACM for Development Services of the need to paint the entire exterior of the Civic Center, it was agreed to proceed with the project. Therefore, Staff posted a notice inviting sealed proposals and opened bids on February 16, 2007. There were 14 bids received for the painting of the Palm Desert Civic Center. Included in the proposals was a Special Services line item in the amount of $10,000 for Special Services. This line item is for both known and unknown building surface repairs and paint preparation, such as restuccoing, joint, and crack repairs.
