STAFF REPORT
CONSIDERATION OF OUT-OF-STATE TRAVEL FOR REPRESENTATIVES
OF THE CITY COUNCIL, PLANNING COMMISSION, AND CITY STAFF TO
VIEW RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS DEVELOPED IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA.

Recommendation:
That the City Council, by minute motion, authorize out-of-state travel for two
members of the City Council, up to two members of the Planning Commission, and
up to two staff members to view residential development projects in Las Vegas,
Nevada.
Discussion:
Olen Properties of Newport Beach, California, proposes to construct the Palm Hills Apartments,
a residential project of almost 800 units in Palm Desert. The magnitude of the project is
significant, and its potential impact on the community warrants careful study and consideration.
Olen Properties has developed similar projects in the Las Vegas area and they believe that
these projects depict the same character, quality, and many of the same elements and details of
the project that they propose to construct in Palm Desert.
In order to further study the proposed Palm Hills Apartments, up to two members n:a :h o ti e
City Council, Planning Commission, and staff request authorization to travel to the Las J gi%s
area in order to view several apartment projects developed by Olen Properties. ExperNst•s
associated with the trip will include hotel rooms, meals, a vehicle and a driver.
