Ortega, City Manager Recommendation: Informational Item: City of Palm Springs proposed ordinance amending the criteria for appointment of inembership to the Palm Springs International Airport Commission. Background: The City of Palm Springs has advised that on November 7, 2007, it will be considering an ordinance that would require at least two candidates to the Airport Commission Board be nominated by each Coachella Valley city and the County of Riverside with the Palm Springs City Council making the final appointment from the list of nominees. In addition, the proposed ordinance eliminates any potential conflict or the appearance of a conflict by imposing an additional restriction on the members of the International Airport Commission by prohibiting service if a member serves on the County of Riverside Airport Land Use Commission or airport board or commission for another airport within Riverside, Imperial, San Diego, or San Bernardino counties if the member has served on such a board or commission during the previous 12-month period.
