Gilligan, ACM/Community Services DATE: October 11, 2007 It was brought to my atterrtion that the staff neport presented to the City Council on September 13, 2007, r�ec:ommending approval af the addendum to the Sherif�s contract contained an error. The neport indicated tha�t a deputy from the Traffic Team would be �ned tio the K-9 unit; how�ever, the K 9 Unit is a new position. The oontract itself read corne�tty. I have attached a copy of that addendum for your reference. This ir�formation is for darificafion only. Enclosed are three original Agreements as executed by the City of Palm Desert. Once approved and fully executed by the County, please forward one original to us for our file. For Further reference, enclosed is a copy of the staff report, which has the City Council action stamp affixed thereto. Third Amendment to the Ag�eement with the City of Palm Desert Recorr�mendation: By Minute Motion,approve the Third Amendment to the Agreement for Law Enforcement Services between the County of Riverside and the City of Palm Desert(Contract No. C22013)and authorize the Mayor to execute same. Discussion• Attached is the Third Amendment to the City's contract with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department to provide senrices through the Pa{m Desert Police Department. The amendment reflects the changes made as a result of Fiscal Year 2007/2008 budget implementation and includes: 1) Conversion of four dedicated Traffic Team Officers to four dedicated Motorcycle Enforcement Officers; 2) replacement of two aging BMW motorcycles with two new Honda motorcycles, including ancillary equipment to outfit the new cycles; 3) conversion of dedicated Tra�c Officer position to a fufly-funded dedicated K-9 position, including Police Service Dog and all equipment; 4) dedicated Community Services Officer 11 for Traffic Division.
