Chairwoman Elle Wohlmuth called the meeting to order at 6 p.m.

III. CONSENT CALENDAR
A. APPROVAL OF THE FEBRUARY 4, 2008, MEETING MINUTES
Upon a motion by Member Jonny Rohrbaugh and second by Member Jenna Scott,
minutes of the February 4, 2008, meeting minutes were approved as presented. Motion
carried by unanimous vote.

V. CONTINUED BUSINESS
A. COMMITTEE PRIORITIES
Chair Wohlmuth requested that any additional suggested activities be
given to her prior to the conclusion of the meeting. She also requested
that Ms. Scully agendize an oral report on this subject for the next
meeting.
B. POLYNESIAN GARDEN PARTY
Co-chair Raine Armstrong distributed tickets to be sold by Committee
members. Money received through ticket sales should be brought to the
April meeting. He gave an overview of the assignments for the day of the
event and added that set-up would begin at 11 a.m. He distributed an
assignment sheet for job duties that day.
Members Abby Sturgeon and Katie Pawelczyk gave a report on the
entertainment and activities. The call to order and welcome will be done
at 5:10 p.m.; the Hula contest will take place at 5:25 p.m,; the Limbo
contest will take place at 5:50 p.m.; and the flame throwers will perform
at 6:15 p.m. Member Sturgeon requested that Ms. Scully contact Peter
Rittenhouse from the Senior Center to determine whether any other
activities were planned. Ms. Scully responded that she believed the
Ukulele players were going to perform, but will confirm that prior to the
next meeting.
The Committee requested the Mr. Rittenhouse be invited to the April
meeting.
Ms. Scully reported that liquid refreshments will be served by "Maui
Wowie" and that the volunteers at the Senior Center will prepare the snack
plates for the Youth Committee to serve.
Due to the fact that the last Council meeting in March falls during spring
break, and members may not be able to participate at that time, it was
decided that the presentation to the Palm Desert City Council would be
made at its meeting of April 10, 2008. Ms. Scully encouraged as many
members of the Committee as possible to attend wearing their Committee
shirts. The meeting begins at 4 p.m.
Members Armstrong and Rohrbaugh requested to view the decorations
that have been received so they could determine how much set-up time
will be needed.
Upon question by Member Scott, Ms. Scully stated that presentations to
the Rotary Clubs will be done after spring break. The morning meeting
begins at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and the afternoon Club's at 12 noon

on Tuesdays. Chair Wohlmuth advised that she would set these
presentations up during the coming month.
C. COMMUNITY DISPLAY— ORAL REPORT BY PAT SCULLY
Ms. Scully reported that Deborah Schwartz, the City of Palm DeserYs
Public Arts Coordinator, will attend the April meeting to describe the
process of displaying art work. Ms. Scully also reported that the
Committee has been selected to exhibit in the months of June and July
2009. The Teen Resource Guide should be prepared by then and it
would be a perfect opportunity to hold a reception to debut that document.

A. CITY COUNCIL ISSUES

VIII. REPORTS AND REMARKS
A. COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Member Ryan Sheehy requested that the summer schedule be
established as soon as possible to enable him to prepare for presentation
of the Teen Resource Guide. The schedule is as follows:
April 7, 2008, 6 p.m.
May 5, 2008, 6 p.m.
June 2, 2008, 6 p.m.
July 7, 2008, 6 p.m. — Main topic of discussion — Election of Chair and
Co-chair for the coming year.
There will be no meeting in August 2008
September 6, 2008, 11 a.m. —Topic of discussion —The Resource
Guide.
The regular meeting schedule will resume on October 6, 2008.
B. STAFF
Ms. Scully reported that the Committee phone list appears to be out
dated. She will distribute a new list to be updated at the next meeting.
On behalf of the City Council, Ms. Scully congratulated Member Amanda
Caudill who was recently accepted to the United States Air Force

Academy and Member Kate Hart who was recently named Student of the
Month at Palm Desert High School.
Ms. Scully announced that she will be picking up Committee shirts for the
members who do not have them and they will be available at the next
meeting.
Ms. Scully reported that Palm Desert Community Arts Coordinator
Deborah Schwartz, Desert Willow Marketing Director Mike Osgood, and
Joslyn Senior Center Executive Director Peter Rittenhouse will be invited
to the April meeting to make presentations. Palm Desert Human
Resources Manager Lori Carney will be invited to attend the May meeting
to present the Student Intern Program.
Ms. Scully reported that she will contact Peter Rittenhouse regarding
what time the Hula lessons will be scheduled for April 5. Those
participating in the Hula lessons will be invited to lunch at the conclusion.
IX. ADJOURNMENT
Upon a motion by Member Sturgeon and second by Co-chair Armstrong the
meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
