Recommendation: 'Y .Erk s 0'ie
By Minute Motion: 1) Award the bid for the deinstallation and installation of the EI
Paseo Invitational Exhibition to Michael Volpone, 39-192 Bel Air Drive, Cathedral
City, California 92234, in the amount of $2,800.00; 2) authorize Mayor to execute
same. Funds are available in account number 436-4650-454-4002.
Discussion:
On August 15, 2008, sealed bids were opened for the deinstallation and
installation of the EI Paseo Invitational Exhibition.
Michael Volpone $2,800
Same Day Express $3,990
DBCM Construction $15,963
Imperial Signs Co. $19,897
Wetech $25,070
After reviewing the bid proposals and references, staff recommends that the bid
be awarded to the lowest bidder, Michael Volpone.
Executive Summary:
Every two years the artworks on EI Paseo need to be deinstalled to allow
installation of the new exhibition. In order to work efficiently and to ensure the
artwork removal and install is a smooth transition, it is necessary to have
additional manpower to assist with removing bolts, lifting and removing artwork
from work trucks, working with staff, the crane operator, etc.
Staff has worked with Michael Volpone in the past and feels he is the best
candidate for the job.
