City of Palm Desert Youth Committee Application
Personal Statement of Qualifications/Interests
Why should I be accepted as an alternate? I believe that I am a very democratic
leader- I like to listen to the people and use their suggestions to bring good to the
school and community. Last year I was selected to represent San Gorgonio Girl Scout
Council to speak to the California state legislators about the pending alcopops
legislation. Last year I was elected as CJSF president for both semesters and helped
lead one of the most profitable fundraisers at PDMS. At 8`" grade promotion I was
honored as one of eleven students for maintaining a 4.0 GPA for 3 years. I was also
the recipient of 1 of 2 awards as one of the two Students of the Year for 2006-2007.
I'm very comfortable speaking to crowds and actually enjoy it thanks to my drama club
and Odyssey experiences. Also, I was selected to attend a People to People Leadership
Summit at Stanford University this past summer. Best of all, I am a team player and try
to keep a positive outlook on every situation. I believe I would be an asset to this
committee. Thank you!
