Background: The Palm Desert Police Department currently has (8) city owned items including Eye Witness video units, a microphone and a camera, that were used in our police units. This inventory is aged, damaged, broken, or outdated and of no additional use for patrol operations. Therefore, staff is requesting that council authorize staff to dispose of the equipment as follows: 1) Items 1-8 are considered waste and shall be disposed of appropriately. Staff recommends that the City Council declare the equipment as surplus property and authorize staff to dispose of the equipment appropriately.
