This event is to honor all those involved with improving emergency, medical, and lifeguard programs in the Sister City of Ixtapa-Zijuatanejo. The following is a brief outline of the proposed recognition: A. Introduction: Mr. Mark Talboys, Palm Desert Sister Cities Foundation B. Video: Ixtapa-Zijuatanejo Bombero and Lifeguard Programs (5 minutes in length) C. Plaque Presentation: To Riverside County Fire Chief John Hawkins, Riverside County Deputy Fire Chief Ignacio Otero, and Ixtapa-Zijuatanejo Fire Chief Jaime Vasquez D. Certificate Presentation: Local Firefighters (approximately fifteen) and Lifeguard Program Organizers (approximately two) As the date draws closer, the Foundation's Humanitarian Committee indicated that they will provide the City with a formal agenda. Wilma: The Foundation is also hosting various Ixtapa-Zijuatanejo teachers in June and is planning on holding a barbeque for them at Civic Center Park on Thursday, June 19, 2008, at 6:00 PM. The event will take place in Pavilion No. One (largest pavilion and closest to the amphitheatre). The Foundation would like to invite the City Council to attend this event. The Council will be at and all day retreat at the Parkview Office Complex this day, but it will let out in the mid -afternoon. This email is not a formal invitation, as the Foundation will likely send one out separately, but I just wanted the Council to have ample notice to schedule it on their calendars if they can attend. In the interim, if anyone has any comments or questions on either of these two events, please contact me. Thank you. Stephen Y. Aryan, Assistant to the City Manager (760) 346-0611, Extension 448 i
