Recommendation:
By Minute Motion, Staff requests that the City Council refund Building Permit Fees in
the amount of $3284.92 for Building Permit 05-00034235 for a project located at 74-775
Del Coronado.
Executive Summary:
On December 26, 2007, Building Permit Fees of $7205.14 were paid by Michele Sordal.
On June 2, 2008 the City received a request from Michele Sordal requesting for a
refund of all permit fees from the Department of Building and Safety. Plan Check, SMIP
Fees and Microfilm Fees are Non-refundable.
Discussion:
The Refundable Building Permit Fees are as follows:
Building Permit Fee (80%) $2409.92
Public Art/SFD 875.00
Total Refundable Fees $3284.92

Therefore, it is staff's recommendation to approve the refund of Building Permit Fees in
the amount of $3284.92 to Michele Sordal in accordance with Title 15.24.160 of the
Palm Desert Municipal Code. Funds are available in Account No. 110-0000-322.11-00.

Request for Refund of Permit Fees

Dear Mr Grance,
I am writing this letter to request a refund of my permit fees for 74-775 Del Coronado-Application NBR OS-
00034235. This is an addition to the requesT I made for 74-755 Del Coronado-Application NBR OS
00035549.
The reason for the request on this new lot is as a result of the survey company error to properly mark our lot
boundaries and the submittal of a plot plan to our architect that was in error. Our building will not fit on the
lot. So at this time we would like to request a refund of fees paid to the city for this permit. Also we would like
to obtain the original school fee form that was summit to you for a refund from the school district. We are
now in the process of obtaining a new set of plans to submit to the city at a later date.
We also have another permit that we submitted for a refund of city fees because of the difficulty in the housing
market(74-75� Del Coronado-Application NBR OS 00035549NBR). This is going up for approval at the
June 12 City Council meeting. If it is possible we would like to submit this refund request at the same time.
As such, I respectfully request refund of the fees.
Also, in order to get reimbursed for School Fees, 1 need the original copy of the Certificate of Compliance-
Desert Sands Unified School District form to obtain a refund from them as well.
