Meritorious Service -Above and Beyond: Upon
leaving the Visitor Center after completing her
normal work day on Sunday, February 3,
Barbara encountered a large tree that had fallen
into lanes of traffic due to a major wind storm
that day. After calling the Police Department
and recognizing the danger to motorists, she
turned on her hazard lights to warn drivers of
the lane blockage ahead. She stayed at the
scene until the Police Department and Public
Works staff arrived.
Barbara is to be commended for her dedication
and commitment to the City of Palm Desert in
making the effort to ensure the safety and
reduce the liability to her community.
Volunteerism: After receiving a request from
the Riverside County Registrar of Voters for
volunteers to work the February 5 Election
Returns Collection Center at the Palm Desert
Library, these employees willingly volunteered.
Each readily assumed the role they needed to
perform until 11:00 p.m. that evening. They are
being recognized for their willingness to give
their time away from home and family on a
work/school night, providing quick attention to
the procedures that needed to be observed, and
sharing their overwhelming spirit of
cooperation.
Once again, City of Palm Desert volunteers
have done both the City and the democratic
process proud.
