PALM DESERT LIBRARY PROMOTION COMMITTEE
NOVEMBER 28, 2007 — 3:00 P.M.

Chairwoman Kermode called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.

A. MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF FEBRUARY 21, 2007
Lawrence Guzzetta moved to, by Minute Motion, approve the minutes of the
February 21, 2007, meeting. Motion was seconded by Joan Beasley and carried 5-0.
V. NEW BUSINESS
A. ELECTION OF OFFICERS FOR 2008
Barbara Rosenberg moved to, by Minute Motion, appoint Louise Kermode as
Chairwoman for 2008. Motion was seconded by Betty Carapellese and carried 5-0.
Ms. Beasley moved to, by Minute Motion, appoint Mr. Guzzetta as Vice -
Chairman for 2008. Motion was seconded by Ms. Rosenberg and carried 5-0.

VIII. REPORTS AND REMARKS
A. Council Member Jean Benson
None
B. Librarian's Report (Jeannie Kays)
Jeannie Kays distributed statistical reports from July, August, September,
and October. Attendance at the Library was good and the bookmobile's
attendance has increased exponentially. All Library programs were doing
very well and becoming more and more popular.
Ms. Kays distributed the Library's December calendar. She gave an
overview of December events.
She stated that they now have a portable sound system and was working
beautifully. The Library staff was in the Golf Cart Parade (she passed
around the photograph).
The Volunteer luncheon will be held at Ruth Chris' restaurant this year.
Ms. Kays thanked the Committee for all their help this year.
The Library has two positions available. A Young Adult Librarian and a
Page.
Ms. Kays announced that the Library would be closed December 24 and
25; and December 30 and 31.

E. Friends of the Palm Desert Library (Joan Beasley)
Ms. Beasley distributed the Friends Financial Report. She gave an
overview of the report. She stated that Friends had 70 new members this
year.
F. Committee Chair (Louise Kermode)
None
G. Committee Members
Mr. Guzzetta was concerned about the availability of the community
rooms and was information available as to who or what was scheduled in
each room. A discussion ensued regarding meeting rooms at the Library.
H. Staff
Rachelle Klassen reported that City Council at its last meeting recognized
State Bros. for its $1,000 donation the Friends of the Library.
Ms. Klassen thanked the Committee members for their service to the
community.
She announced that the City has retained an audio/visual consultant firm
to assess the City Council Chambers. She plans to have the consultant
visit the Library to assess its needs and make recommendations for a
permanent sound system.
Ms. Klassen stated that there would not be a meeting in December. She
would inform the Committee of the date of the next scheduled meeting.
IX. ADJOURNMENT
With Committee concurrence, the meeting was adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
