Request:
By Minute motion, approve out-of-state travel for the Director of Information
Systems to attend the Basic Network Analysis using the Observer Analyzer in
Phoenix, Arizona, April 14-15, 2008.
Backqround:
It is necessary for the Director of Information Systems to stay informed on the most current
software and hardware available. The 2-day course costs $1,295 and covers the basic network
management skills using a network analyzer. This course will show how to effectively
troubleshoot, maintain, optimize, and monitor network traffic along with being able to recognize
different problems within a network. The network analyzer helps discover where problems exist
and implement solutions. This information would be very beneficial for the Director of
Information Systems to help prevent and troubleshoot problems within the City's network should
there be any. Total costs approximating $1,700 including $400 for hotel expense are available in
Account No. 110-4190-415-3120.
Staff recommends that City Council, by Minute motion, approve out-of-state travel for the
Director of Information Systems to attend the Basic Network Analysis using the Observer
Analyzer in Phoenix, Arizona, April 14-15, 2008.
