Approve and authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the Whitewater Bridge at Portola Avenue, Contract No. C22870B (Project No. 647-04). 2. Approve Amendment No. 2 to the reimbursement agreement with CVAG to increase funding of the Portola Bridge Project by $1,200,000 for a total authorized reimbursement of $7,450,000 and authorize the Mayor to execute the same. Discussion: On July 14, 2005, City Council awarded Contract No. C22870B to Granite Construction Company of Indio, California, in the amount of $10,046,046, for the construction of the Whitewater Bridge at Portola Avenue. The Public Works Department has inspected the work performed by the contractor and has found said work to be complete and in accordance with the contract requirements. Therefore, staff recommends that City Council, by minute motion, authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the subject project. Portola Bridge NOC and Amend. 2 to CVAG Agreement Page 2of2 March 13, 2008 On May 12, 2005, City Council approved the reimbursement agreement with CVAG for funding 50% of the estimated design and construction cost ($4,250,000) of the Whitewater Bridge at Portola Avenue. Amendment No. 1 to the reimbursement agreement was approved by City Council on October 27, 2005, to increase the reimbursement to $6,250,000 to cover the increase in the project bid cost. Amendment No. 2 to the reimbursement agreement has been approved by the CVAG Executive Committee to increase the amount of funding to $7,450,000. This will fund the final cost of the bridge and provide funds to provide the missing sidewalk on southbound Portola Avenue between the bridge and Magnesia Falls that is being done as a separate project. All other provisions in the existing Reimbursement Agreement and Amendment Number One are considered in force. The Executive Commiftee of CVAG, at their meeting of October 2, 2004, approved a {ist of Regional Transportation Projects and the amounts recommended forfunding through the RCTC bond sale process forthe total amount of$28,275,040,ofwhich the Portola Avenue Bridge project is one of those Regional Transportation Projects. The Executive Committee of CVAG,attheir meeting of October 29,2007,approved a modified list of projecfs and a revised bond fund amounts for the total amount of$26,985,Q00, as shown in the attached amended Exhibit"B". The PortolaAvenue Bridge atthe Whitewater Channel project is one of those Regional Transportation Projects. The City of Palm Desert is requesting additional Construction funds for the Portola Avenue Bridge at the Whitewater Channel project in the amount not to exceed$1,200,000. This amendment numbertwo shall increase CVAG's participation fundsfrom$6,250,000(previously authorized)to �7,450,QQ0. The City of Palm Desert shall award the construction contractfor the Portola Avenue Bridge at Whitewater Channe! Project prior to January 1st., 2010.
