Discussion: The City of Palm Desert is a valley leader in the area of alternative-fuel vehicles. Staying current with laws, incentives, and regulations, as well as maintaining a solid knowledge base about the alternative fuels and vehicles available will be imperative. In order to be better prepared to assist with the City's goals in this area staff is requesting approval to attend the 2008 Alternative Fuels and Vehicles National Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada. The conference's stated objectives are to bring together policy makers, fleet managers, forecasters, automotive journalists, auto manufacturers and fuel providers for educational purposes. The cost estimate for the four-day conference ranges from $1862 to $2440, depending on the availability of the government rate at the hotel and eligibility for registration at the "fleet administrator" rate. Funds are available in the Public Works Conference Account No. 110- 4614-453-3120.
