Dear Mayor Benson,
As you may be aware, October is National Domestic Violence Month.
Given the fact that Shelter From The Storm is the Coachella Valley's only
provider of services to women and child victims of abuse, we are
requesting that you acknowledge October as Domestic Violence
Awareness Month within the city of Palm Desert.
We respectfully ask that you issue a proclamation to this effect along with
some acknowledgement of the work of this agency. If you are willing to
do this, we would send a Shelter From The Storm representative to your
council meeting in October to receive the proclamation. We would also
request that someone from your office contact us with the date and time
that you would like us to be present.
Thank you in advance for your on -going support of the lifesaving work we
do on behalf of victims of domestic violence.
Sincerely,
Lynn Moriarty
