REQUEST: Approval of Mr. Steve Garvey as the 2009 Legends Field Honoree

Recommendation:
By Minute Motion: Approve the Palm Desert Parks and Recreation
Commission recommendation of Mr. Steve Garvey as the 2009 Legends
Field Honoree.
Discussion:
At the September 16, 2008, Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, Mr. Steve
Garvey was unanimously selected as the 2009 Legends Field Honoree. If approved, Mr.
Garvey's "baseball card" photo and baseball statistics will be added to a pillar at the
entrance to the Legends Field baseball diamonds in the Civic Center Park.
He will also be honored at the 2009 International Sports Festival (Senior Games)
banquet dinner in February.
