Authorize the City Manager to enter into a purchase order with
Leadership Development Associates in the amount of $60,000 for
Leadership training for staff.

Recommendation:
Authorize the City Manager to enter into a purchase order with Leadership Development
Associates in the amount of $60,000 for leadership training for staff.
Discussion:
In 2006 the City Council authorized the development of a leadership training program
for City staff. At that time Leadership Development Associates (L.D.A.) was selected as
the program vendor. L.D.A. has presented the Palm Desert L.E.A.D.S. program to
three groups of employees to date, and the results have been excellent. The training
focuses on the qualities of leadership and public service and has resulted in increased
communication and collaboration between departments.

This purchase order will be for an eight session class, held at the Chapman University
Campus' in Palm Desert and Orange County. This program is included in the FY
2008/2009 City Training program and funds were allocated in the Human Resources
Citywide Training budget.
Fiscal Impact: $60,000 Funds are available in account #110-4154-415-3121
