A. APPROVAL OF THE JUNE 2, 2008, MEETING MINUTES
Upon a motion by Member Alahna Dunbar and second by Member Jonny
Rohrbaugh, minutes of the June 2, 2008, meeting was approved as presented. Motion
carried by unanimous vote.

IV. NEW BUSINESS
A. PARTICIPATION IN DESERT GARDEN COMMUNITY DAY-ORAL
PRESENTATION BY PALM DESERT INFORMATION VISITOR
INFORMATION CENTER MANAGER DONNA GOMEZ
Palm Desert Visitor Information Center Manager ponna Gomez gave a
brief presentation on the upcoming event which will be held on October
11, 2008, and requested the Youth Committee's participation.
Ms. Scully suggested that the sub-committee appointed to chair City
sponsored events meet to discuss how the Committee will participate.
She asked that the sub-committee bring that information back to the
Committee in September.
B. ELECTION OF COMMITTEE CHAIR
Chair Wohlmuth stated her desire to run for re-election. Ms. Scully asked
if there were any other Committee members interested in this seat. There
being none, Chair Wohlmuth was re-elected for the 2008/09 year.
C. ELECTION OF COMMITTEE CO-CHAIR
Ms. Scully requested that Committee members wishing to run identify
themselves. Members Rayne Armstrong, Jenna Scott and Abby
Sturgeon each gave a statement of qualifications. By written ballot,
Member Scott was elected as the Committee Co-chair for the 2008/09
year.
V. CONTINUED BUSINESS

B. KELLY'S JR./SR. GOLF TOURNAMENT UPDATE — PRESENTATION
BY DESERT WILLOW GOLF RESORT MARKETING DIRECTOR MIKE
OSGOOD AND COUNCILMAN DICK KELLY
Michael Osgood, Director of Marketing at Desert Willow, gave a
presentation on the progress of the event and distributed commitment
forms to the Committee. Extensive discussion was held with regard to
the activities that the Committee could be involved with and description of
each of those activities. Mr. Osgood and Councilman Kelly will attend the
September meeting to define each Youth Committee member's role.
VI. OLD BUSINESS
A. POLYNESIAN GARDEN PARTY MONEY WRAP UP
Ms. Scully reminded those who have not yet turned in their money from
the Polynesian Garden Party ticket sales to please do so.
VII. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS
A. CITY COUNCIL ISSUES
1. Remarks by Mayor Benson regarding the Youth Committee
Ms. Scully announced that Mayor Benson had many
complimentary things to say about the Youth Committee and their
activities at the last Council meeting.
VIII. REPORTS AND REMARKS
A. COMMITTEE MEMBERS
None
B. STAFF
1. Introduction of new members
Ms. Scully introduced Laura Baldwin, Emily Prest, and Megan
Poster who will be joining the Committee as Alternate Members.
2. Participation in concert series
Ms. Scully thanked the Committee for their participation in this
year's concert series. The assistance provided was outstanding.
3. Brown Act
Ms. Scully reviewed the provisions of the Ralph M. Brown Open
Meeting Act.

4. The Committee advised Ms. Scully that they would like their 2009
Youth Committee polo shirts to be Teal in color.
IX. ADJOURNMENT
Upon a motion by Member Sturgeon and second by Member Dunbar the meeting
was adjourned to Saturday, September 6, 2008, at 11 a.m. Motion carried by
unanimous vote.
