HomeMy WebLinkAboutWaiver of Fees - 9th Annual Ed Mullins PicnicCITY OF PALM DESERT COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT STAFF REPORT REQUEST: REQUEST FOR WAIVER OF FEES ASSOCIATED WITH THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF PALM DESERT'S 9TH ANNUAL ED MULLEN'S PICNIC IN THE PARK SUBMITTED BY: DATE: CONTENTS: Recommendation: Pat Scully, CFEE, Senior Management Analyst January 22, 2009 Letter of Request from the Historical Society of Palm Desert By Minute Motion, waive fees associated with the Historical Society of Palm Desert's 9th Annual Ed Mullen's Picnic in the Park scheduled to be held on Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Pavilion No. 1 in the Palm Desert Civic Center Park. Background: The Historical Society of Palm Desert has scheduled its 9th Annual Ed Mullen's Picnic in the Park at Pavilion No. 1 in the Civic Center Park to express its appreciation to the individuals and organization that supports its many programs throughout the year as listed in the attached correspondence. This will also provide an opportunity for its members to meet in an environment conducive to the goals of this organization. Historical Society volunteers will set up the event and will clean up afterwards. City staff will be on site the day of the event to provide extra waste receptacles and assist event organizers. Event organizers are requesting that the required fees be waived, which incluceE a r€ s ;ti•±n - fee of $100 and one maintenance worker for 7 hours at $40 per hour for a to al of $18C. This event is a social gathering for our members, their families and friends and not considered a fund raiser. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we request waiver of fees for reservation of the large Pavilion in Civic Center Park. Setup would commence at 9:00 a.m. in order to be ready for the 11:00 a.m. "social hour" and Noon lunch. Tear down and cleanup should be completed no later than 5:00 p.m. We would again appreciate, if available, the transportation to and from the Pavilion you so kindly provided for our members and those of us who have to "tote" the boxes.
