HomeMy WebLinkAboutWaiver of Fees - Founder's Day CelebrationCITY OF PALM DESERT COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT STAFF REPORT xN REQUEST: REQUEST FOR WAIVER OF FEES ASSOCIATED WITH THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF PALM DESERT'S FOUNDER'S DAY CELBRATION ON MAY 16, 2009 SUBMITTED BY: Pat Scully, CFEE, Senior Management Analyst DATE: January 22, 2009 CONTENTS: Letter of Request from the Historical Society of Palm Desert Recommendation: By Minute Motion, waive fees associated with the Historical Society of Palm Desert's Annual Founder's Day Celebration scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009, in the Council Chambers located at the Palm Desert Civic Center. Background: The Historical Society of Palm Desert has scheduled its Annual Founder's Day Celebration for Saturday, May 16, 2009, to honor the founding of the City of Palm Desert, and name its founder of the year. Historical Society volunteers will up the event and will clean up afterwards. City staff will be on site the day of the event to provide extra waste receptacles and assist event organizers. Since this event is held for the benefit and pleasure of the community and is free to the public, event planners are requesting that the required fees be waived, which include appropriate reservation fee for the Council Chambers ($100) and one maintenance worker for 5 hours at $40 per hour for a total of $300. Staff recommends approval of this request to waive fees associated w th the Ar nLal Fouryr's Day Celebration on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at a total cost of 933G0. We are requesting use of Council Chambers for this event which is held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Committee would need admittance at 11:00 a.m. to set up the refreshment and reception tables.
