On behalf of The Valley Partnership, I wot '1 &, ?ilW CIfft1-06-driie°if tbli t ein the launch
of our "Leave Your Mark" pledge drive. Our agency is part of a 16-member statewide community
outreach team. Our goal is to educate communities about ways to save energy, save money and save
the environment. The Flex Your Power (FYP) campaign is funded by California ratepayers and
administered by investor -owned utilities under the auspices of the California Public Utilities
Commission.
I have attached a FYP tip card and pledge "leaf". In the next few months, our agency will be
collecting leaves through a variety of educational activities throughout our area. The leaves will be
affixed to a large tree banner. In September, we will host a media event to celebrate the culmination
of the campaign and highlight the number of pledges collected. We would like you to participate in
this worthwhile campaign.
I would appreciate the opportunity to make a brief presentation about the pledge drive at an
upcoming Council meeting. This presentation would include:
• A description of our agency's mission and activities
• A brief overview of the statewide FYP campaign and local events we have planned
• A request to have the Council sponsor a city resolution declaring September "Energy
Efficiency Month" in Palm Desert. (Resolution template attached.)
• An invitation to all of the Council members to participate in our local September event.
Members will have the opportunity to lead by example by signing pledge leaves and affixing
them to our tree banner. They will also have the opportunity to share comments about
personal steps they have taken in their own homes. Media will be invited and we will
provide press releases to you prior to the event for your review.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing back from you. My
number is 760-776-5555, ext. 223
Sincerely,
Christine Stone

generate operating cost savings to consumers who spend a portion of the savings
