Desert Willow Golf Resort Parking Lot in an Amount Not-to-Exceed
$50,000
SUBMITTED BY: Mark Greenwood, P.E., Director of Public Works
David Yrigoyen, Director of Redevelopment/Housing
DATE: July 9, 2009
CONTENTS: Plan of Desert Willow Parking Lot
Parking Lot Improvement Estimate
Recommendation:
By Minute Motion:
1. Authorize staff to proceed with the modifications to the existing
Desert Willow Golf Resort parking lot; and
2. Authorize the Finance Director to appropriate funds in an amount
not-to-exceed $50,000 from unobligated Project Area 2 funds.
Discussion:
Earlier this year Desert Willow and the Redevelopment Agency submitted a plan to the
Landscape Beautification Committee to make modifications to the existing parking lot at
Desert Willow. The Committee directed Redevelopment Agency and Public Works staff
to work on revising the plan and recommended that the construction work be performed
by city crews. This approach allows us to expedite the design and construction of the
improvements during the off season. Public Works Engineering has developed a plan
in consultation with Redevelopment Agency and Desert Willow staff and we are now
ready to proceed with construction of the modifications.
The modifications include realigning curbs at the loading dock, installing sidewalk to
improve the path and make it ADA compliant from the overflow parking lot to the
clubhouse, and constructing a raised island at the valet drop off area. We anticipate
that all of the improvements will be perFormed by Public Works and/or Desert Willow
staff with the exception of modifying the patterned concrete at the main entrance.
