KELLY JR/SR OPEN Desert Willow Director of Golf Darrell Souza gave an overview of the event. After extensive discussion, Ms. Scully advised that committee assignments would be made in the upcoming month. This will provide an opportunity for the Committee to work on the event throughout the summer. B. JULY MEETING Ms. Scully suggested that the regularly scheduled July meeting be cancelled due to vacation schedules keeping in mind that if the July meeting were to be cancelled, the June meeting would be used to conduct issues that are routinely handled later in the summer; i.e., selection of shirts, election of officers for the upcoming year, and subcommittee assignments. Upon a motion by Member Jonny Rohrbaugh and seconded by Member Raine Armstrong, the Committee voted to cancel the regularly scheduled July Committee meeting, in lieu of holding subcommittee meetings throughout the month of June, July, and August with city staff. Motion carried unanimously. C. GOLF CART PARADE FLOAT Ms. Scully reminded the Committee that decorating a golf cart for the Parade is labor intensive. Member Bryce Griffith commented that his father entered a cart in the parade last year, and it was very simply decorated. Member Sturgeon stated that she could provide a golf cart. Vice Chair Scott inquired as to where banners could be purchased. Ms. Scully said that she could provide a contact for the banners. The consensus of the Committee was that there was sufficient interest to re-agendize this item for the June meeting to develop a program. VI. CONTINUED BUSINESS A. SUBCOMMITTEE UPDATES 1. Community Display - Kate Hart Member Kate Hart reviewed her meeting with Public Art Coordinator Deborah Schwartz. She advised that any proposed titles for the display need to be submitted to her at the June meeting, and any committee members who have not yet submitted their personal profiles need to present those to her in June if they wish to be included in the exhibit. The reception for the event is tentatively scheduled for September 12, 2009. Ms. Scully added that she would ensure that this event will be covered in the BrightSide. 2 PALM DESERT YOUTH COMMITTEE MAY 4, 2008, APPROVED MINUTES 2.
