Application of Donna Jean Darby Recommendation: By Minute Motion, appoint Donna Jean Darby to the Art In Public Places Commission to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Kevin Grochau on this agenda (term 12/31/09). Background: The Art In Public Places Commission has a membership of seven (7). On March 18, 2009, the Mayor received a letter of resignation from current Member Kevin Grochau, which is being received on the Consent Calendar of today's meeting with very sincere regret. Mr. Grochau's term was to run through December 31, 2009. During the annual Committee/Commission Service process conducted by City Council on February 13, 2009, Ms. Darby was interviewed for her interest in the Art In Public Places Commission; however, there were no vacancies as of that date. Based on the interview, Ms. Darby's civic involvement and earnest interest in the City of Palm Desert's Public Art Program, it is recommended that she be appointed to fill Mr. Grochau's vacancy on the Art In Public Places Commission.
