APPROVE a recommendation to accept United States Department of Justice BJA FY 2009 Justice Assistance Grant Program (Award #2009-DJ-BX-1348)in the amount of $15,654. 2. APPROVE ratification of the City Manager's execution of any prior or future grant documents associated with the United States Department of Justice BJA FY 2009 Justice Assistance Grant Program (Award #2009-DJ-BX-1348). BACKGROUND In July 2009 the Palm Desert Police Department applied for $15,654 in grant funds provided by the United States Department of Justice BJA FY 2009 Justice Assistance Grant Program. On August 19, 2009, the City of Palm Desert was awarded the grant funds. These grant funds will be used to purchase six (6) new computers and one (1) networked laser printer for use by the Palm Desert Police Department. Staff respectfully requests that the City Council formally accepts this funding, in the amount of $15,654. Please note that on September 9, 2009, the Palm Desert Public Safety Commission recommend acceptance of this grant. Minutes of this meeting were not available at the time this staff report was prepared. The grant award program runs from October 1, 2008, through September 30, 2012.
