This course teaches Interview and Interrogation techniques that provide a method in which the interviewer can make observations of a person's behavior, analyze that behavior, and properly employ proven techniques designed to detect deception and stimulate confessions. The techniques presented in this course by the Institute instructors are a compilation and refinement of various techniques developed from a variety of interviewing and interrogation styles including many of the specific techniques used by modern polygraph examiners. These techniques are learned in an immersion-type learning environment. Participants complete a 300+ page course outline and observe videotapes of actual interviews and interrogations. Students are given case studies and participate in a variety of workshop exercises designed to help increase their proficiency in gathering information, detecting deception and gaining confessions.
