Background The logo glassware items on the attached list remain in storage from the Art of Food & Wine festivals. In addition to those specific items, numerous plastic utensils, napkins, and plates also remain. Staff utilizes the plastic items for various internal usages, as well as at City sponsored events such as artist receptions and other special events when appropriate. Palm Desert's Sister Cities Foundation has requested a donation of wine glasses, plates, and utensils for a fundraiser in connection with Fashion Week. They are expecting approximately 245 guests. Staff recommends the City Council declare the attached list of items surplus property, making them available for donations to fundraisers such as the United Way and other non-profit groups requesting the supplies. Fiscal Analysis There is no fiscal impact to the Special Events budget as a result of this approval. However, the potential cost savings to the Sister Cities Foundation could be approximately $735.
