Subject: Proposed changes to ordinance 8.40.070 Temporary parking permit
procedure.
As a resident of Palm Desert, CA and as a RV owner, I wish to object to the
changes to the RV parking restrictions as outlined in your letter to Richard
Hunter, date 1/25/2010.
The proposed change reducing the parking time from 72 hours (without a permit)
to 24 hours is an unreasonable burden on RV owners, for the following reasons:
1. 24 does not allow sufficient time to allow the refrigerator/freezer to reach
the holding temperature before loading perishable.
2. There a many maintenance functions required for any RV that cannot be
performed at the storage location that required more than 24 hours.
The changes to the RV parking are not necessary, to my knowledge there has
not been a traffic problem and the present parking procedure does not present a
hardship on Palm Desert residents.
The subiection letter did not address the 14 day per year RV parking permit that
is currently in force. Again to my knowledge there has not been a traffic problem
and the present parking procedure does not present a hardship on Palm Desert
residents.
The 24 hr RV parking limit and the requirement to obtain the permit to extend the
parking time to 72 hours puts an unnecessary burden on the RV owner that is not
required. The existing parking ordinance should remain in effect !
Sincerely,
Thomas C. Crippen
