Commission Recommendation On January 13, 2010, the Palm Desert Public Safety Commission ratified the request to expend CAL Cops funds in the amount of$1,780.00 for this CPS Technician course that was held from January 11-15, 2010, in Blythe, CA. Backs�round The Palm Desert Police Department requests ratification to expend $1,780.00 in CAL Cops Funds to send two of its officers and one Community Services Officer to a forty (40) hour Child Passenger Safety (CPS) course at Capital Suites, Blythe, on January 11-15, 2010. This conference is designated as "Essential Training" for those officers assigned to educate and assist the public in the installation of child restraint systems. The course and certification is presented by Safe Kids Worldwide, the lead certifying agency for child restraint systems instruction. Certification of officers is an essential component of the Palm Desert Police Department's child safety seat program. Since this training was held before the regularly scheduled City Council meeting on January 28, 2010, staff respectfully requests ratifications of this expenditure.
