Grance, Director of Building and Safety DATE: June 10, 2010 CONTENTS: CONTRACTS EXTENSION AGREEMENTS: Scott Fazekas & Associates; Interwest Consulting Group; Willdan Engineering Recommendation: By Minute Motion, Staff requests that the City Council approve extending the professional service agreements to Scott Fazekas & Associates (Contract No. C29040A); Interwest Consulting Group (Contract No. C29040B); and Willdan Engineering (Contract No. C29040C) for building plan review services for the fiscal year 2010/2011 and shall not exceed a total of $30,000.00. Funds will be available in FY Budget 2010-11 Account No. 110-4420-422.30-10. Background: At its regular meeting of June 10, 2009, the Palm Desert City Council, by Minute Motion, approved Contract No. C29040A with Scott Fazekas & Associates; Contract No. C29040B with Interwest Consulting Group; and Contract No. C29040C with Willdan Engineering. These professional service agreements will expire June 30, 2010. Per the TERM of the Agreement for Plan Review Services included a provision for extending up to a maximum of one year. The CONSULTANTS: Scott Fazekas & Associates; and Interwest Consulting Group and Willdan Engineering have all agreed to provide the same level of plan review services with no change in service costs from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011, per the attached letters of extension. Staff Report— PLAN REVIEW CONTRACTS Scott Fazekas & Associates Interwest Consulting Group Willdan Engineering June 10, 2010 Page 2 The primary use for Plan Review Consultants is to ensure that the City maintain a high level of customer service to the development community should we see an increase in construction activity. Building Department staff provides primary plan review services and only utilizes the Consultant for more complex structural reviews. This fiscal year to date the department has performed 727 plans reviews and only sent eleven (11) projects to the consultant for structural review at a cost of approximately $23,268.
