Recommendation:
By Minute Motion, confirm staff's recommendation for the appointment of Ms.
Pamela Martin to the Building Board of Appeals.
Background:
Annually the City Council conducts the annual appointment process to make
appointments/re-appointments to the various Committees and Commissions. During the
City Council meeting of November 12, 2009, Council voted and approved these
appointments. However the Building Board of Appeals was not accomplished due to
unforeseen circumstances.
Staff was directed to review the applications in order to make a recommendation for City
Council consideration. After reviewing the applications and conducting a phone
interview staff is recommending that Ms. Pamela Martin be appointed.
This Board is charged in hearing all appeals which include accessibility requirements of
the California Building Code. The qualifications of the Board members include that at
least two members be physically disabled (CBC Section 112.4). The City is in need of
filling the second verifiable disabled member of this Board.
