sport in North America; and
Whereas, June 1-7, 2010, has been declared the inaugural
International Week of Pickleball by the USA Pickleball Association; and
Whereas, Pickleball is a popular fitness activity that is played
within families, including multiple generations; and
Whereas, Palm Desert is the host city of the annual Senior
Games, with a free Pickleball clinic to be held at Palm Desert Civic Center
Park on Saturday, June 5, 2010, in conjunction with the "Get Fit Palm
Desert" program.
Now, Therefore, I, Cindy Finerty, Mayor of the City of Palm
Desert, California, Do Hereby Proclaim the week of June 1 - 7, 2010, as
International Pickleball Week
in the City of Palm Desert and urge all residents to join me in this special
observance.
