The Bridge structure is an all weather crossing at the Whitewater River, providing four lanes of through traffic, sidewalks on both sides for the safety and convenience of Lincoln Elementary and Palm Desert Middle School students, and improved the line of sight traffic issues. The Bridge was completed in March, 2008. The Portola Bridge was a $14 million Bridge, 50% funded by Palm Desert and 50% funded by CVAG/RCTC. The staff at CVAG and RCTC are recommending to their governing bodies contributing $1,000 each for the bronze plaques placed at the belvederes. The two bronze plaques and the two street signs are estimated to cost $6,000. Kemper Sports Management is also considering participation.
