By Minute Motion, declare police motorcycle 2003 BMW 1150RT (VIN
WB10499A13ZE90551) surplus property and authorize its disposal as
proposed.
Background
A police motorcycle, owned by the Palm Desert Police Department and described as a
2003 BMW 1150RT (VIN WB1 0499A1 3ZE90551), has been non -operational for several
years. The vehicle was taken out of service and has been used for parts, but is now no
longer useful in any way.
The vehicle has 34,965 miles on the odometer and an expired warranty. The seat is
torn and it is missing both side mirrors, the windshield, the ignition key, and the
saddlebags. The engine and transmission are thought to be workable, but it is unknown
when the engine was last started.
Staff recommends that this equipment be deemed surplus and that Council authorize
staff to dispose of it either through a licensed salvage company or an on-line auction.
