Section for the Riverside County Fire Department, which includes all of the area from
the Whitewater River east to the Colorado River and from San Bernardino south to
San Diego and Imperial Counties. He oversees all Fire Protection Planning bureaus
for the Fire Department and is responsible for the day to day administration of his
section and command and control of emergencies; and
Whereas, Deputy Chief Otero has developed an effective working
relationship with the Mexico Bombero firefighter program, the Palm Desert Sister
Cities program, the College of the Desert Public Safety Education Center, and the
Inland Empire Burn Institute via the annual golf tournament to support burn victims;
and
Whereas, Deputy Chief Otero has also developed a wonderful working
relationship with desert City and County officials. His relationships are based on
trust and respect by elected and appointed officials as well as citizens of the desert
communities; and
Whereas, the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce has awarded Deputy
Chief Ignacio Otero the 2010-2011 Peace Officer & Public Safety "Riverside County
Fire — East Coachella Valley Firefighter of the Year" Award.
Now, Therefore, I, Jean M. Benson, Mayor of the City of Palm Desert,
California, Do Hereby Proclaim Tuesday, November 22, 2011, as
Deputy Chief Ignacio Otero Day
in the City of Palm Desert and urge all residents to recognize his commitment to the
well-being and safety of all residents in the Coachella Valley.
CITY COUNCIL ACTION In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and have
APPROVED DENIED caused the Official Seal of the City of Palm Desert,
