Educational Administration from United States International
University in 1989 and his Professional Administrative Services
Credential from San Diego State University in 1998; and
Whereas, Pat Walsh was a teacher, coach, and Assistant
Principal at Mt. Carmel High School in San Diego until 1998,
when he became Principal of Palm Desert High School; and
Whereas, under his leadership, Palm Desert High School
has flourished, receiving numerous honors and awards, including
the California Distinguished School Award and the Governor's
Environmental and Economic Leadership Award (both in 2005),
and Academic Performance Index (API) scores have consistently
improved, from 698 in 2003 to 813 in 2010; and
Whereas, Pat Walsh will be leaving Palm Desert High
School in January of 2011 to accept a position at a high school in
northern California.
Now, therefore, I, Jean M. Benson, Mayor of the City of
Palm Desert, California, do hereby proclaim Thursday,
January 13, 2011, as
Pat Walsh Day
in the City of Palm Desert and urge all residents to join with me in
conveying our appreciation to Pat Walsh for his service to
education and wishing him well in his next endeavor.
