REQUEST: Informational Item on United Way Campaign
SUBMITTED BY: Lori Carney, Human Resources Manager
DATE: July 14, 2011
CONTENTS: Letter from United Way of the Desert
Recommendation:
Receive and File United Way of the Desert letter dated May 2011.
Background:
Once again the City conducted a successful United Way campaign. Through the
support of the City Council employees held various fundraising events, such as
bake sales, rummage sales and silent auctions to augment the annual payroll
deduction pledge drive. One of the most popular silent auction items continues to
be a shaded parking space for the summer.
Our total contribution for the 2010-2011 campaign year amounts to $11,311.81,
earning the gold level award for the City. This is especially impressive given that
the City only has 129 employees now. This giving represents the personal
generosity of our employees who are reaching out to those less fortunate in our
community. These are difficult financial times for many families in the Coachella
Valley and the contributions of our employees will make a difference in many
people's lives.

please convey our heartfelt appreciation and congratulations to Cherie
