Recommendation
By Minute Motion, that the City Council, Authorize staff to donate the City's
Fire Department Electric Vehicle to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Background
The Cove Communities Commission previously operated and owned a 2002 Ford Electric
Vehicle, which was donated by Palm Springs Motors. When the Cove Cities opted to
contract for fire support services independently, the vehicle was transferred to the City of
Palm Desert. It is currently housed by CalFire at Rancho Mirage Station No. 50. The unit is
fully decaled with Riverside County/CalFire logos and is used at special events as
necessary. Staff recommends donating this unit to the Riverside County Fire Department,
who will assume all maintenance and related costs with this vehicle.
Fiscal Impact
There is no fiscal impact associated with this donation, as the City is not responsible for any
maintenance or other costs associated with this vehicle.
