Recommendation
By Minute Motion, authorize the Director of Public Works to attend the
2011 ITE Annual Meeting and Exhibit conference in St. Louis, Missouri,
from August 13 to August 16, 2011.
Funds are available in Account No. 110-4300-413-3120, Public Works
Conference/Seminars/Workshops account.
Background
It is necessary for the Director of Public Works to stay abreast of current advances in
and innovations of transportation to fulfill continuing education requirements of a
professional certification. The most efficient and cost effective way to achieve this is to
attend the 2011 ITE conference. At the conference, comprehensive training is offered
on many aspects of the transportation field, including roundabouts, innovative
intersections and streetscapes. The four -day conference fee for the 2011 ITE
conference is $635; with approximately $1,465 for transportation and travel related
expenses based on the U.S. General Services Administration Domestic Per Diem Rates
for St. Louis, Missouri. The estimated total cost is $2,100.
