HomeMy WebLinkAboutSurplus - Desert Willow Golf Resort (DWGR)CITY OF PALM DESERT STAFF REPORT REQUEST: RATIFY THE DISPOSAL OF SURPLUS PROPERTY FROM THE DESERT WILLOW GOLF RESORT SUBMITTED BY: Heather Buck, Project Coordinator DATE: July 14, 2011 CONTENTS: Exhibit "A" — List of Surplus Property Recommendation By Minute Motion: Ratify the disposal of the surplus property listed on the attached sheet (Exhibit "A" Background On July 27, 2010, the Palm Desert Redevelopment Agency Board authorized the award of a contract with DavisReed Construction, Inc. for the Lakeview Terrace Expansion and a contract with The Penta Building Group for the Kitchen/Building Expansion. Approval of these contracts authorized the renovation of the clubhouse and required the disposal of fixed assets. Unfortunately, certain assets were not identified by Kemper Sports prior to the Award of Contract(s) that would require Council approval for disposal. Therefore, during the renovation of the clubhouse and terrace, Kemper Sports Management, along with City Staff, determined that the assets listed on Exhibit "A" were not salvageable and were disposed of during the renovation of the clubhouse and terrace. The property listed in Attachment "A" was antiquated and/or was not able to be salvaged or used within the renovation or elsewhere. The property was recycled where possible or sent to the landfill due to its condition or the inability of the Contractor to separate the property from construction debris. Staff recommends that the City Council declare the property as surplus and ratify its disposal.
