Subject: INFORMATIONAL ITEM — CITY MANAGER MEETING SUMMARIES
Following are meetings held with groups, residents, and/or businesses, for the period May 4-
17, 2011:
May 4
CONFERENCE CALL WITH STAFF AND ASR
ASR is the general contractor for the Palm Desert Aquatic Center. The
City received several stop notices on the project from subcontractors
(stop notices are submitted to the City by subcontractors for
nonpayment). The conference call was to find out what the problems
were and encourage ASR to work rapidly toward completion.
MEETING WITH STAFF AND DAVID MOORE
Met with staff and David Moore concerning pool furniture. Mr. Moore
provided samples and costs of several furniture designs and materials.
Ruth Ann Moore investigated pool furniture at the Westin and Marriott.
Mark Greenwood, Ryan Stendell, and I will look at and sit on actual
furniture next week prior to ordering.
PALM SPRINGS ART MUSEUM (PSAM)
Met with staff to discuss PSAM lease and proposed addendum to lease,
identify the lead contact for the City, and issues that I need to bring to
the attention of the PSAM staff.
MAY 5 STAFF MEETING
Bi-Monthly meeting with staff to discuss Council agenda.

MEETING WITH PUBLIC WORKS STAFF AND RESIDENTS TOM
O'CONNOR AND CARL DURANTE RE: WARING PLACE
Subject of meeting: (1) Palm Desert High School; (2) Phyllis
Jackson/Fred Waring.
MAY 6 WEEKLY MEETING WITH MAYOR AND MAYOR PRO TEMPORE
MAY 9 EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT MEETING
Weekly department head meeting.
MEETING WITH STAFF CONCERNING DMV
Met with Planning and Public Works staff concerning the DMV conditions
of approval.
CVAG TAC
Monthly CVAG Technical Advisory Committee meeting. TAC approved
the local share spread of the interchanges, without negatively affecting
the City of Palm Desert.
MEETING WITH EMPLOYEE CONCERNING ANNUAL REVIEW
In the process of conducting annual performance evaluations of
Directors and City Manager supervised employees.
Y GREEN MEETING
Met with Y Green Energy and Barclays Bank to discuss a proposal for Y
Green to fund and assist providing commercial EIP loans in Palm Desert.
MAY 10 MEETING WITH EMPLOYEE CONCERNING ANNUAL REVIEW
In the process of conducting annual performance evaluations of
Directors and City Manager supervised employees.
OUTSIDE AGENCY APPLICATION REVIEW
The Outside Agency Funding Committee met to discuss the applications
for FY 2011/12 funding.

MEETING WITH STAFF AND DANA ALLEN, VP COMPETITOR
GROUP, CONCERNING ROCK & ROLL HALF MARATHON
The Competitor Group owns and produces the Rock & Roll Half
Marathon series. The Competitor Group has requested a $54,000
contribution from the City of Palm Desert for traffic control and law
enforcement. I indicated the City will consider the request to sponsor the
event once the City of Indian Wells considers their sponsorship of an
equal amount and the Competitor Group has a contract with a host hotel
in Palm Desert.
MEETING WITH COUNCILMEMBER FINERTY, CITY ATTORNEY, AND
PALM SPRINGS ART MUSEUM REPRESENTATIVES
Discussed the First Amendment to the lease and focused on moving
forward with the relationship, coordination of permits, and designating a
lead contact person from each entity.
MAY 11 DESERT WILLOW HOTEL SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING
Discussed the Desert Willow hotel pads with the Hotel Committee.
Specifically discussed concepts for Lot "A" on Desert Willow property.
DESERT WILLOW PRESIDENT'S MEETING
Among the items on the agenda was a presentation on value added
marketing. Desert Willow reported continued success with revenues that
can be attributed to the renovations which have been well -received. The
summer menu will begin after Memorial Day. Also discussed the
pilot program for the $1 donation for the homeless, which will be in effect
May 15-June 15. Golfers and diners will have the opportunity to
contribute $1, if they desire.
CONFERENCE CALL CONCERNING ROCK AND ROLL HALF
MARATHON
Discussed the Half Marathon with Indian Wells staff and their upcoming
recommendation to their City Council.
MAY 12 PDEO CONTINUING NEGOTIATIONS
Ongoing negotiations with the PDEO Board. Staff discussed our
proposal with Council in closed session at last Council meeting.

CITY COUNCIL STUDY SESSION (HOUSING ELEMENT) AND
COUNCIL MEETING
MAY 13 TOUR OF AQUATIC CENTER WITH MARK GREENWOOD
Continue to work with Mark Greenwood and staff to complete the project.
MEETING WITH FRANK ORLETT, BURRTEC, RE: ROUTES
Met with Burrtec staff regarding concerns raised by Palm Valley and
Palm Desert Resorter country clubs.
MAY 16 EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT MEETING
Weekly department head meeting.
MEETING WITH MARK GREENWOOD AND MATT JOHNSON
Meeting to discuss (1) DMV objections to their conditions of approval, (2)
channel lining, (3) Cook Street embankment.
MAY 17 MEETING WITH FRANK ORLETT, FRANKIE RIDDLE, HOA
MANAGERS FROM PALM VALLEY AND PALM DESERT RESORTER,
CONCERNING ROUTE SCHEDULE
Met with Burrtec, Palm Valley, and Palm Desert Resorter country clubs
to discuss options and impact of moving service from Monday to
Thursday. I sent a memorandum to the City Council concerning this.
