Jerry and Ryan- As you know, I have experienced several scheduling conflicts due to the nature of my job and I
have missed some Park and Rec Commission meetings. I will be unable to attend the meeting scheduled for
July 24, 2012 and will therefore be resigning from the Commission. I have enjoyed the many years I served as a
member and Chairman of this Commission and all that we have accomplished in that time.
I did complete a review of Civic Center Park on July 2 at 7:30pm. Here are some suggestions/comments from
that visit -
Dog Park- My wife visits this park, instead of University Park, as the people and dogs are nicer at Civic Center.
The dogs are more aggressive at University and the owners are more interested in socializing than monitoring
their dogs behavior. This park smells pretty bad sometimes.
I moticed there was no signage to direct people to the aquatic center inside Civic Center Park.
The pink notices are noticeable, but sort of tacky looking.
Possible shade covering over a few basketball courts and volley ball courts.
The back side of the YMCA and Rec District buldings are very visible to the park, but with nothig but beige
walls. Possible signage/murals/artwork/banners?
The park was very busy- all tennis courts were in use, with mostly doubles. All 6 basketbsall courts, 4 voleyball
courts, 2 baseball fields, one soccer game, the playground equipment and people walking in the park.
