Following are meetings held with groups, residents, and/or businesses for the period
July 2-August 14, 2012:
July 2 Executive Management Meeting -
Weekly meeting with the Management Team.
2Id Interviews for Supervising Plans Examiner Position
Final interview for an internal recruitment for the position of Supervising
Plans Examiner in the Building & Safety Department. Since the interview
panel had two top candidates, I interviewed both candidates with the HR
Manager and Chief Building Official.
Coordination of Development Services
Monthly meeting to discuss coordination of services between Building and
Safety, Planning, and Public Works.
July 4 Independence Day Holiday
Attended the 4 nof July concert and fireworks at the Civic Center.

July 10 Desert Willow President's Meeting
Met with City and Kemper Staff to discuss the June financials and operations.
Lunch Meeting with Larry Parrish
Discussed issues with the County and County personnel now in charge.
Meeting with Lori Carney and Anthony Hernandez re: Council
Compensation Survey
Met with Ms. Carney and Mr. Hernandez to finalize the Council
Compensation Survey requested by the Committee.
Meetina with Pedro Rodriguez re: Code Compliance Issue
Discussed a property owner's wall, specifically how she would determine who
owns the wall. Property owner has had several issues with the neighboring
HOA.
July 12 Redevelopment Transition Team Meetina
Discussed the impacts of AB1484 -- the new requirements and timing of
audits and requested information to the County and Department of Finance.
City Council Meeting
July 13 Meeting with Stephen Aryan, Lt. Bill Sullivan, Business District Team.
and Mary Cardas (owner of Savory Spice Shop on El Paseo) re:
Increased Crime on El Paseo
Informed Ms. Cardas about changes (increased personnel to the Business
Team) in the Palm Desert Police contract. Encouraged Ms. Cardas to do a
CPTED survey on her business and agreed to conduct an informational
meeting to the Chamber of Commerce and El Paseo Merchants Association
in early fall.
Meeting with Mayor Spieael, Mayor Pro Tem Kroonen, and City
Attorney
Weekly meeting to discuss citizen concerns and address issues brought up
during the week.
Meeting with Lauri Avlaian and Dr. Peter Scheer re: Nighthawk
Discussed improvements to Stone Eagle Drive (sewer, water, and curb &
gutter).

July 16 Meeting with Councilmember Jan Harnik
Discussed various issues and items to be placed on the August 23rd city
Council Agenda.
Executive Management Meeting
Weekly meeting with the Management Team.
AB 1484 Webinar
Participated in the League of California Cities AB1484 Webinar. AB1484 is a
bill that provides direction on the dissolution of RDAs.
July 18 LEADS Program Reunion with Program Facilitators
Participated in a lunch with staff and the LEADS facilitators.
Meeting with Stephen Aryan and Palm Sprinas Art Museum
Meeting to discuss the art pad, lighting, and security system upgrades and
bid for the Eric Johnson Gardens.
City Council Compensation Committee — Reaular Meetina and Public
Input-
The City Council Compensation Committee held its fourth meeting and
advertised public input meeting where five community members spoke.
July 19 CV Mountains Conservancy Meeting re: Trail Easements
Met with Ryan Stendell, Jim Sullivan of CVAG, and Kevin McKernan of
CVMC to discuss placing conservation easements on City -owned land
outside the MSHCP conservation areas.
July 20 Meeting with Lin Juniper and Jennifer Cusack of Southern California
Edison
Southern California Edison Regional Project Manager Lin Juniper introduced
me to Jennifer Cusack, Regional Public Affairs Manager.
Meeting with Mayor Spiegel, Mayor Pro Tem Kroonen, and City Attorney
Weekly meeting to discuss citizen concerns and address issues brought up
during the week.
Lunch with Mayor Spiegel and Ken Schwartz (Marriott's Desert Springs)
Ken Schwartz indicated that the Marriott is not going ahead with the Aquatic
Center due to the cost of the parking deck tent move and the land for the tent
structure.

July 23 Meeting with Mark Greenwood and Lori Carney
Met to discuss the recruitment of a Management Analyst I.
Meetinq with Mayor Bob Spiegel
Met to discuss the impact of the Salary Committee's recommendation to his
situation.
Executive Management Meeting
Weekly meeting with the Management Team.
July 24 Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting
Attended the Parks & Recreation Commission meeting. The primary
discussion involved the Aquatic Center.
Audit, Investment & Finance Committee Meeting
Attended the Audit, Investment & Finance Committee meeting.
Meeting with Staff and Burrtec re: Reroutinq of Trash and Recvcle
Service
for Palm Valley and The Resorter
Discussed the problems with the Monday to Thursday trash and recycling
services.
July 25 Meeting with Mark Greenwood, Clay vonHelf, and Russell Grance
Met to discuss the Quick Permit Service Center and software -related needs.
Richard Kelly Memorial Adult Junior Open — Meetina at Desert Willow
Attended a coordination meeting with First Tee, Desert Willow, and Mary
Helen Kelly. Approved the final flyer.
July 26-
July 27 Field Trip to Visit One -Stop Service Centers in Various Cities (Rancho
Cucamonga, Ontario, Moreno Valley, Redlands)
Met with the City Managers and took pictures of all the one -stop permit
centers that I visited.

July 30 Meetina with Ed Schiller re: Desert Willow
Mr. Schiller, of Western Golf Properties (Landmark), met with me to express
interest in managing and operating Desert Willow Golf Resort. Mr. Schiller
inquired about taking Desert Willow out to bid. I informed Mr. Schiller that
Council directed staff to negotiate with KemperSports.
Executive Manaaement Meetina
Weekly meeting with the Management Team.
Aquatic Center Committee Meetina_
Discussed the end of the year report and capital improvements/equipment
with Karen Creasey, Rob Ballew of the YMCA, and City staff.
July 31 Meetina with Palm Desert Police Captain Kevin Vest
Captain Kevin Vest and Lt. Bill Sullivan are contemplating a position of
Forensic Technician for the Cove Communities. This position could be very
useful in solving burglaries, both residential and commercial.
Meetina with Tamara Hedges & Peter Plantes (UCR Palm Desert), Bob
Spiegel, and Jan Harnik
As it moves forward with the Medical School, UCR is focusing on the use of
the existing UCR Graduate Center space and a clinic concept on the 11
acres under current option.
Aug 1 Meeting with City Attornev
Weekly meeting with the City Attorney.
Meetina with Staff and City Attorney re: La Casita
La Casita has violated its CUP, and the City suspended the CUP.
Meetina with David Fletcher and Fred Fern (Chartwell Properties), Lt
Bill Sullivan, Captain Kevin Vest, and Business District Team re: Police
Presence and Security on El Paseo
Described the modification to the Palm Desert Police Business District Team
and the proactive approach to addressing AB109 and crime on El Paseo to
Mr. Fern and Mr. Fletcher. Encouraged Chartwell Properties to conduct a
CPTED survey by the Crime Prevention Analysts.
Meetina with Captain Kevin Vest and Lt. Bill Sullivan
Discussed the status of investigations of several burglaries

(cont'd) City Council Compensation Committee — Regular Meeting
Fifth meeting of the Committee. Developed its recommendation to City
Council.
Aug 2 Meeting with City Staff and Fire Department Staff re: Fire Marshal
Operations
Received an update from Chiefs Dorian Cooley and Bill Hunley on the status
of the Palm Desert Fire Marshal position. Cal Fire/Riverside County is
considering reorganization vs. recruitment.
Aug 3 Meeting with Mayor Spiegel, Mayor Pro Tem Kroonen, and City Attorney
Weekly meeting to discuss citizen concerns and address issues brought up
during the week.
Lunch Meeting with City Attorney Dave Erwin and Deputy City Attorney
Bob Hargreaves
Discussed expense and strategy of Rent Review litigation and hearings.
Aug 6 Out of the Office to Attend a Funeral
Attended my mother-in-law's funeral services in Fresno.
Aug 7 Meeting with COD President Joel Kinnamon
Met the new COD President and discussed cooperation and collaboration
between COD and the City of Palm Desert.
Meeting with Staff re: Landscape Contracts
Public Works is considering a landscape services contract vs. a landscape
construction contract bid process in an attempt to maintain the City's
landscape with the most qualified firm. Discussed the process and budget
impact.
Aug 8 Meeting with City Attornev
Weekly meeting with the City Attorney.
Meetinq with_City Attorney, Stephen Arvan. Paul Gibson. and Michael
Kiner re: Palm Springs Art Museum
The bids for the Sculpture Garden pads and lighting came in more than
expected. The bid was $159,000, and the City budgeted $150,000 plus 10%
contingency. The City will look into cost-cutting measures with PSAM. In
order to begin moving forward, PSAM will need to deposit funds into the
project budget.

(cont'd.) Second Interview with Susan Leona for Management Analyst Position
Interviewed the top candidate for the Public Works Management Analyst
position with Lori Carney and Mark Greenwood. At conclusion, made a job
offer.
Meeting with Staff re: Anina Developer Cash Deposits
Staff and the City Attorney are working through a list of old security deposits
to either refund or place into Development Impact Fee (DIF) accounts.
Aug 9 Meeting with Barbara deBoom of Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce
re: CAM Charges
Discussed the CAM charges allocated to the Chamber with Ms. deBoom as
well as the current lease agreement.
Meetina with Russell Grance and Leo Sullivan re: Chaparral Country
Club
Met with Chaparral Country Club representatives on status of current building
permit applications and future plan checking issues.
Redevelopment Transition Team Meetina
Held a Redevelopment Transition Team meeting to discuss the Agenda for
the August 20, 2012, Oversight Board meeting.
Lunch Meeting with Bill Strausz, Paul Gibson, and Luis Espinoza
Met to discuss KemperSports Management Agreement with Counsel and
suggested changes to the agreement.
Coordination of Development Services
Monthly meeting to discuss coordination of services between Building and
Safety, Planning, and Public Works.
Aug 10 Meeting with Mayor Spiegel, Mayor Pro Tem Kroonen, and City Attorney
Weekly meeting to discuss citizen concerns and address issues brought up
during the week.
