Subject: INFORMATIONAL ITEM — CITY MANAGER MEETING SUMMARIES
Following are meetings held with groups, residents, and/or businesses, for the period January
18-31, 2012:
January 18 Cove Commission Meeting
The Commission approved the necessary water system improvements at
the Joslyn Center estimated to be $21,000 to be paid under the new
Cove formula: Palm Desert 69%, Rancho Mirage 24%, and Indian Wells
7%.
Sonoma County EIP Marketing Conference Call
Participated in a conference call concerning the PACE programs
underway, national PACE program and legislation updates, and
marketing PACE to the commercial sector.
January 19 Staff Meeting
Weekly staff meeting to review City Council agenda.
Redevelopment Transition Team
Anthony Gonsalves, legislative analyst from Sacramento, attended the
meeting and gave the team a briefing on current legislation surrounding
the statewide dissolution of redevelopment agencies.
January 20 Meeting with Mayor Spiegel, Mayor Pro Tern Kroonen, and City
Attorney Dave Erwin
Follow-up to Council direction and responses to community complaints.

Meeting with Mayor Spiegel, Mayor Pro Tem Kroonen, City
Attorney Dave Erwin, and Jim Jarrod
Met with Mr. Jarrod to discuss his proposed roof deck.
Meeting with Chief Dorian Cooley and Bill Hunley
Met to discuss the Fire Department's mid -year budget. Primarily
discussed fleet needs.
January 23 Executive Management Meeting
Weekly meeting with the executive management team.
Employee Service Awards Luncheon
I attended the luncheon held at Desert Willow in recognition of thirty-
one employees receiving service awards: 10 Five -Year Awards, Twelve
1 0-Year Awards, Four 15-YearAwards, Three 20-YearAwards, and Two
25-Five Year Awards.
Aquatic Center Committee Meeting
Discussed ways to increase revenues and decrease expenditures.
January 24 Meeting with Mayor Spiegel and Ron Nelson
Mr. Nelson complained about the lack of payment on one of the City's
two NSP loans to rehabilitate foreclosed upon properties. I called Mr.
Nelson back after determining what he was talking about.
Audit, Investment & Finance Committee Meeting
Informed the Finance Committee about the pending dissolution of RDA.
Meeting with Mayor Spiegel, Mayor Pro Tern Kroonen, and Dick
Baxley
Mr. Baxley brought in and discussed private funding of housing projects.
January 25 Meeting with Staff and Verizon Representative
Discussed options Verizon is proposing for a cellular telephone antenna
at the Living Desert.
Conference Call with Supervisor Benoit
Weekly conference call to discuss and coordinate the dissolution of
RDA.

CRA Conference Call
CRA has scheduled a series of conference calls related to AB 1X26 to
give members an opportunity to ask questions of the CRA Technical
Committee.
January 26 Redevelopment Transition Team Meeting
Meeting to discuss implementation of eliminating RDA. Focused on
housing and disposal of asset properties.
City Council Study Session
Desert Willow presented its Marketing Plan.
Council Meeting
January 27 Housing Tour
I attended the bus tour to view all housing properties.
Meetina with Rearesentatives from Burrtec, Palm Vallev Count
Club. Palm Desert Resorter and Staff Concernina Solid Waste Route
Change
Met with representatives from Palm Valley, Palm Desert Resorter, and
Burrtec.
January 30 Meeting with County Representatives, Bill Strausz, and City Staff
Regarding RAP
Discussed past payments owed to RAP and effects on RAP when RDA
is eliminated.
Executive Management Meetina
Weekly meeting with the executive management team.
Meeting with Supervisor Benoit's Representative and City Staff
Continue to coordinate the elimination of RDA and share interpretations
of AB 1 X26.
Solar Panel Dedication
Spoke at the dedication of the solar project at the Parkview Office
Complex.
BLM Trails Meeting with Jim Foote and City Staff
Discussed identifying trail failures and repairs by BLM. Also discussed
method of obtaining approval of developing additional perimeter trails.

CVAG Executive Committee Meeting
Attended the executive committee meeting.
January 31 Legislative Review Committee Meeting -
Primarily discussed RDA legislation and other legislative issues on the
agenda.
Review of Larkspur Hotel Site RFP
Met with the Hotel Subcommittee to discuss the Larkspur RFP and
worked on prioritizing the Desert Willow land owned by RDA for disposal.
