Funds are available in Account No. 110-4614-453-3120, Landscape Services Conference/Seminars/Workshops account. Background In 2012, the annual ISA conference is being held in Portland, Oregon. The Landscape Specialist will be in the area on personal business the week before the conference begins, and is requesting that the City pay the conference registration fee of $530. She will cover all other travel and conference related expenses. Attendance at the ISA annual conference affords the opportunity to acquire most of the 30-hour continuing education requirement to maintain the arborist certification. The conference begins on Saturday, August 11 (which is the beginning of a pay period) and ends on Wednesday, August 15. The City is required to pay an employee who attends an authorized conference or training. The alternative to attending this conference would be to attend several one- or two-day seminars in California, which would be piecemeal, random, and would almost certainly be more costly in the aggregate.
