A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT,
CALIFORNIA, RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 07-66 AND ELIMINATING
COMPENSATION FOR THE MEMBERS OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, on October 10, 1985, the City of Palm Desert, California, did, by
Ordinance No. 439, establish that compensation for members of the Planning
Commission shall be set by resolution of the City council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council subsequently adopted Resolution No. 85-103,
99-80, and 07-66, which provided for compensation for each meeting attended by a
Commissioner.
WHEREAS, it is determined that the Internal Revenue Service has taken the
position that Members of the Planning Commission should be treated as employees from
a tax standpoint, which increases the cost inordinately.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Palm Desert, California, as follows:
SECTION 1: That Resolution 07-66 establishing compensation for members of
the Planning Commission be and the same is hereby rescinded. Such rescission to be
effective as of February 29, 2012.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Palm Desert, California, at its regular meeting held on the day of February, 2012, by
the following vote, to wit:
